The Kentucky Waterfalls

the kentucky waterfalls are a two-piece acoustic band from the heart of the midwest. evan murdock and katie powderly harmonize soulful tunes about the unholy trinity of drinking, traveling, and heartache that combine to form country music. powderly and murdock have been playing music together since 2000, but formed the kentucky waterfalls in the summer of 2008, realizing the rarity of their musical bond after temporarily calling it quits and going their separate ways.

throughout their time together, murdock and powderly have shared bills with many great national and local acts, including del mccoury, yonder mountain string band, hot buttered rum, james king, caleb klauder country band, foghorn, two many banjos, chris jones, kathy kallick, the henhouse prowlers, sexfist, the cork n bottle string band, the spare time bluegrass band, and many others.

powderly and murdock each bring with them very different writing styles. mama's songs tend to be sweet and sad, daddy's tunes are often sassy. but one thing's for sure; they love each other like peanut butter loves jelly. they just don't "loooooove" each other.
